Fall Guys announces free to play, more console releases, and a sneak peak at a creator mode!
Free to Play
Fall guys is here to stay with their recent news. The goofy, addicting, hilarious battle royal has announced that they are going free to play on June 21st, 2022. Some early supporters might feel like they are getting swindled since they had already payed for the game. However, this game is a game centered around two things: getting the crown, and cosmetics. If you were a supporter for this game prior to free-to-play, you will be getting a Legacy Pack. This pack consists of three new costumes.
Part of the game's massive success was that it launched at the peak of COVID when everybody was stuck at home missing their friends, and Fall Guys was able to sew that void back together. However, some gamers were left out from that because Fall Guys wasn't supported on their console. Free to Play is not the only thing in store for this game...
Cross-Play, Cross-Progression
Fall Guys will now be supported across all platforms (All Xbox Consoles, PS4 & 5, and Switch). Anastasiia Tsalpii, Senior Engineer, shares some specs surrounding news: all Xbox consoles, minus the original Xbox One, will be able to play Fall Guys at 60 FPS. Yes, the game is coming to Nintendo Switch as well, but will perform higher in docked mode. Last but not least, PS5 players will be able to enjoy the game at an astounding 60 FPS @ 4k.
Yes, this also means you will be able to play with friends cross-platform. Additionally, your progress will be tied to your Epic Games account. That's right, cross-progression is coming to Fall Guys as well.
Custom Level Design
Finally, to make this a trifecta announcement, Fall Guys has teased a creator mode. This will allow players to work through their own custom level design. For anyone that has ever played custom Halo 3 games, or Gary's mod, you know that this is amazing News. Oftentimes the best content for a game is derived from it's own community. They haven't announced when exactly this is to be released, but they let us know it is coming!
