Xbox Adds Ray Tracing to Minecraft by Mistake

The feature was spotted in the latest preview build

It looked like Minecraft had begun Ray Tracing on the Xbox series S/X console. The Verge's senior editor Tom Warren tweeted that the lasted Preview version added Ray Tracing options. This option was only exclusive to Xbox insider members.

Shortly after the announcement of Ray Tracing beginning on the consoles, Minecraft has came out to say that it was a mistake.

Minecraft posted a statement on their twitter saying, "The previous Minecraft Preview build available to Xbox Insiders inadvertently included prototype code for raytracing support on Xbox consoles. This early prototype code has been removed from Preview and doesn't signal near future plans to bring raytracing support to consoles."

Players have questioned why Mojang cannot properly prioritized the console versions of Minecraft. And many are hoping that this new statement is some sort of April fools joke. Either way, it looks like any future views on raytracing in the game are hopeless.

Raytracing is still available on the Windows PC version of Minecraft.
